Dah24 Hackathon.
On friday the 19th on April I joined a 24 hour Blockchain Infused with AI hackathon hosted by DAH24.
The hackathon officially started at 16:00, where we were warmly greeted by the host and immediately got involved in some initial setup activities to prepare for the intense coding marathon ahead. The atmosphere was electric, filled with excitement and anticipation as participants from various backgrounds gathered to showcase their skills and creativity.
After a comprehensive briefing about the subject and objectives of the hackathon, my team and I, proudly named Safe Security, began an intense brainstorming session to decide on our project. We bounced around several ideas, considering the potential impact and feasibility of each. After much deliberation, we settled on developing a sophisticated facial recognition software designed to alert parents about registered sex offenders in their vicinity. To add an innovative twist and enhance the security aspect, we decided to incorporate custom NFTs to uniquely link and track the sex offenders.
The following hours were a whirlwind of coding, designing, and troubleshooting. Each team member brought their expertise to the table, contributing to different facets of the project. The energy in the room was palpable as we delved into the complexities of integrating blockchain technology with AI-powered facial recognition.
By Saturday evening, precisely at 19:00, the moment of truth arrived with the award ceremony. The tension was high as each team presented their projects, showcasing their hard work and innovative solutions. When it was our turn, we presented Safe Security with great pride, highlighting its potential impact on community safety and its technical robustness. The judges were impressed, and after deliberation, we were thrilled to learn that our team had secured second place. Although we just missed out on the first position, the sense of accomplishment and recognition for our efforts was immensely rewarding.
Participating in this hackathon was an incredible experience. It provided a unique platform to compete with talented teams, pushing us to think outside the box and hone our technical skills. Beyond the competition, we gained invaluable insights into the realms of blockchain and artificial intelligence, learning about their practical applications and future potential. The collaboration, creativity, and learning that took place over those intense hours were truly unforgettable, leaving us eager for the next opportunity to innovate and make a difference.
